OUR HISTORY
It is March 14, 1976 , when a group of employees of the company "Rancilio Macchine per caffè" of Parabiago, near Milan, united by the passion for cycling, gives life to a small project that will be destined for strong development.
With the support of the property of the Rancilio company, which favors the birth and development of the first periods, it quickly becomes an association with a life and management of its own.
The initial activity develops reaching almost 100 active members; The strong point is also the organization of the “Nino Rancilio Trophy” , an evening track-type race that soon received a great response. there are several athletes who can then be found among the most popular professionals of the time. Among the various we can remember Sante Fossato, Marco Vitali and a Moreno Argentin at the beginning of his career.
The apex of the importance of this race is found in the years 1981-82 when, first in the Milanese area, races are also reserved for the female category; here too the names are of absolute importance, being able to mention Rosanna Piantoni and Morena Tartagni, all Italian champions several times.
1984 marks a small turning point for GS Rancilio which abandons the cycling activity to move towards the more strictly organizational one.
In memory of the businessman who has just passed away, the “Antonietto Rancilio Trophy” was created, reserved for the Amateur I ^ and II ^ category, now Elite-Under 23; the event gains ground in the environment, earning a roll of honor of primary importance: in '84 Giuseppe Calcaterra, '90 and '91 Giovanni Lombardi who the following year will be Olympic champion on the track, to get to the more recent Danilo Napolitano ( 2002), Paride Grillo (2004), Andrea Guardini (2008 and 2010) and Nicola Ruffoni (2012).
1998 marks the year of the change in top management: Mario Bonissi succeeds Angelo Croce, the undisputed and far-sighted "helmsman" for over twenty years.
To the momentum and experience of the past years are added strengths and renewed ideas: in the 1999 program a test for disabled athletes in handbikes is included, a specialty which has recently been present in Italy, which immediately ignites the enthusiasm within the company.
Since that year the event has grown steadily and in 2004 the “Rancilio HandBike Grand Prix” is accredited as proof of the EHC European Circuit , the highest European organization in the handbike sector.
Not only competitive competitions find space in the objectives of the company; from 2001 to 2006 he experienced a particular initiative, the “Sicurinbici School Project” ; intended for elementary school pupils, it sees days of real lessons, both in theory and in practice, where every child learns to understand the bicycle. A personalized helmet for the occasion is then given to each child, as a souvenir and as a message of absolute importance.
After 6 editions, over 80 days will be held with 3,500 children involved, in the territories of Parabiago, Legnano and Busto Arsizio.
The athletes also reappear; in 2006 a new experience starts with 8 athletes in the handbike specialty, 1 in cycling and 1 in athletics and which soon brings unexpected results. 27 wins and 15 placings will be the result of a first season of away matches in Italy and Europe, among which the conquests of two gold medals and two silver medals at the Italian Time Trial and Online Championships stand out.
For some time now, however, a strange air has been secretly breathed inside GS Rancilio ..
And the mystery is revealed when, in August 2006 , the representative of the GS Rancilio returns from the General Meeting of the World Handcycling Federation, held in London, with the permission to organize the 2007 Handbike World Championship in his pocket.
For three days, on 15-16-17 June 2007 , Parabiago becomes the world center of the handbike: 130 athletes, 28 nations represented, 135 employees in the organization, over 300 volunteers and 15,000 people from the public are only the result in number of a preparatory work that lasted over 2 years and that involved every part of the city.
2008 and 2009 are two years of transition; the World Cup has really drained all the strength of the members of the company, which needs a period of recovery, physical and mental.
The pivotal appointments of the activity are not abandoned, on the contrary in 2009 the Rancilio Trophy goes from category to become National and thus guaranteeing the permanent presence of the strongest Italian and foreign national teams.
2011 is characterized by a new international appointment in the world of handbike: GS Rancilio is entrusted with the organization of the Final Round of the EHC European Circuit , a real European Championship in which the best athletes compete.
Here the company puts on a program consisting of concerts, conventions and conferences, in which Paralympic sports excellence such as Alessandro Zanardi and Fabrizio Macchi and journalists of the caliber of Claudio Arrigoni and Roberto Bof participate.
Success also for handbike competitions: 150 athletes from 31 Nations, with the national teams of Switzerland, France, Israel. Present, in full force, the Italian National team with Zanardi in the lead who gives a show until the last pedal stroke!
In the program, a time trial-couples reserved for para-cyclists, with the Italian national team acting as exceptional testers and with the couple Michele Pittacolo-Andrea Tarlao victorious at 46.400 km / h on average!
2012 is in some ways a year of rest… but not too much… GS Rancilio even arrives at the Paralympics in London with our athlete Haki Doku , accompanied on the occasion by Team Manager Vittorio Bonissi .
Emotions are crowded to see our two representatives parading at the opening ceremony waving the flag of Albania, the country of Haki, which thus becomes the first disabled athlete in the history of his country to participate in a Paralympics.
After these last two years lived "to the greatest", 2013 and 2014 still present themselves as years of physical "recovery", where the activity focuses on the Rancilio Trophy, which has now crossed the threshold of 30 editions, and on the team of handbike which, in the meantime, has increased and reaches 11 units.
In 2016 the Antonietto Rancilio Trophy changes location, leaving the traditional arrival of Viale della Repubblica in front of the Rancilio coffee machine plant and moving to the center of Parabiago; the formula also changes, becoming an evening race, to enhance the sport-show combination that great events are able to bring out.

In 2017 another novelty, which returns in the footsteps of tradition: the Antonietto Rancilio Trophy expands and, in addition to the traditional Elite / Under23 men's race, an Open women's cycling trial is included as well as a roller skating trial, speed sector.
The center of Parabiago therefore becomes the natural setting for 3 evenings of great sport with the central Piazza Maggiolini crowded with crowds to watch the spectacular evolutions of the athletes.
In 2018 yet another step forward: the "Athlete today, Manager tomorrow" project is born.
the project involves the 7 Paralympic Athletes plus 4 Junior Athletes (17-18 years), to whom our Company has offered the opportunity to continue in the competitive activity.
The aim of the Project is to provide Athletes with a series of skills that can be useful at the end of their competitive career, to stay close to the sporting world and also to facilitate an insertion into the working world.
The Project is made up of a series of meetings, visits and seminars that will see the Athletes involved together with the Sponsors who support the activity, who make their facilities available to provide information, knowledge and experiences and which will make up the personal baggage of each, in the perspective of involvement in the sports world as a modern, competent and up-to-date Corporate Executive.
The Tutors of the project are Roberto Damiani , Stefano Bietti and Maurizio Tripodi .
The official presentation was attended by the President of the FCI Renato di Rocco and the Vice President Michele Gamba , the President of CONI Lombardia Oreste Perri , the President of the FCI Lombardia Cordiano Dagnoni and the President of the FCI Milan Valter Cozzaglio .
Also present were the Lombardy Region Sports Councilor Carolina Toia , the Mayor of Parabiago Raffaele Cucchi and the Parabiago Sports Councilor Diego Scalvini .
In 2019 , at the request of the Municipality of Parabiago, GS Rancilio brings Paralympic cycling back to the streets of the city; to the well-known handbikes there are also para-cyclists, tandems and tricycles.
The event, called "Parabiago Paracycling 2019" , is included in the UCI international calendar as a Class 1 event and is valid for qualification for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
160 athletes, coming from 19 nations, battle it out on the city streets in an individual time trial and one in line, cheered and applauded by the large audience.
Il 2021 segna il cambio al vertice societario: Vittorio Bonissi succede al padre Mario Bonissi, una pedina fondamentale per la società che negli anni ha permesso di raggiungere tanti obiettivi importanti.
